When the COVID-19 pandemic mandated businesses to close, YWCA Lake County staff began receiving emergency calls to help desperate families. Many families did not have access to basic necessities like unemployment insurance, food, and rent and utility assistance. Within days, our team began delivering food, medicine, and other basic needs to thousands of families in Lake County.
Aside from COVID-19, our nation has imploded due to the unaddressed issues of systemic racism. As Alejandra Y, Castillo, CEO, YWCA USA said: "We know that together we are stronger. We join in the collective call to end police violence and structural racism. We stand united as YWCA's give life to our mission to eliminate racism and empower women." We will NOT stopping fighting for your rights.
In light of the pandemic, most schools are fully remote and YWCA Lake County has been continually offering a safe and secure location supervised by our staff so that parents can still go to work and provide for their families.
Please help us to continue to serving over 30,000 families in Lake County by donating today.
