The U.S. Debit Crisis
The Government Affairs Council of the Barrington Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a free educational seminar on the U.S. Debt crisis on Tuesday, June 28 at 7:00 PM at the Barrington Area Public Library. Mr. John Dawson and a group of concerned citizens, business people, teachers, and parents have created a seminar and website to educate the American public on the U.S. debt crisis and offering key resources to assist in attaining credible and accurate data.
As Washington legislators begins to debate the 2012 US budget, and the rising debt ceiling tops all predictions by August, 2011, it is important that every voting American knows where to find the truths regarding the U.S. Debt crisis. It has been noted by this group of concerned citizens, that many TV commentators and journalists, and some in political office; continually misstate the facts. The Chamber wishes to educate and inform the area businesses and community residents.
The group will explore the following statements (in their opinions):
- The debt crisis can be solved without touching entitlement programs.
- If only corporate America paid their fair share of taxes.
- Less than 50% of American citizens pay taxes.
- Medicare and Social Security are well funded and there is no fear of them going bankrupt.
- China holds half of our debt.
- The crisis can be resolved by only reducing expenses and not raising taxes.
