Microplastic in Illinois Waterways

Free educational event with speaker from Environmental Illinois.  Things we use for just a few minutes are polluting our environment for hundreds of years.  Plastic waste from single-use cups and takeout containers, plastic fibers from our clothes, and plastic pellets from manufacturing are turning up in Illinois rivers, lakes, and drinking water.  A new statewide survey found microplastics in 100% of the sites tested, from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi.  Join us for this eye-opening talk about what is really flowing through our waterways, how it gets there, and what we can do about it.  Program co-hosted by Go Green Barrington, the Barrington Area Library, Barrington Rotary Club, and Flint & Spring Creek Watersheds Partnership.
