Gobbler Gallop
The Arboretum of South Barrington in partnership with Barbara Rose School and the South Barrington Park District, invites the community to participate in the widely anticipated Gobbler Gallop, an annual 5K race and 1 Mile charity walk that kicks-off the Thanksgiving season. Runners will have the opportunity to give back to the troops as all proceeds will benefit the Heart of a Marine Foundation. The first 100 registrants will receive a free race t-shirt.
The Heart of a Marine Foundation proudly serves all branches of the US Armed Forces providing comfort, support, financial assistance, and educational resources to improve the quality of life of military personnel and veterans and their families. Two collections will be taking place during the race; a sock drive will be conducted to collect new white crew socks to be sent to those serving overseas, and a cereal drive will be conducted to help feed the hungry in the Chicagoland community.
For each pair of socks and/or box of cereal donated, participants will receive one raffle ticket for prizes including raffle baskets, a leather bomber jacket, turkey dinners and more. These prizes are made possible through the generous support of sponsors including The Arboretum of South Barrington, South Barrington Park District, South Barrington club, Barbara Rose School, PTO, Heart of a Marine, Panera Bread, Accent Advertising and Right at Home.
