As co-curator of the Barrington Area Library's, "Gallery in the Library", Lisa Swarbrick, owner of Lisa Swarbrick Photography, cordially invites you to attend the April 17th Artist Reception. Our April Artist Reception showcases the landscape and architectural works of Barrington resident Carol Richardson-O?Brien through 5 mediums: oil, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, and graphite. The collection entitled, "Some of My Favorite Places,? will be on display April 3rd through May 23rd at the Gallery in the Library, with the opening scheduled for April 17th from 7-9pm. Educated in Fine Arts at the University of Dayton and Saint Louis University, and in illustration at Ray College of Design, Carol has showcased her work both in the U.S. and in Europe. After college, Carol went to Ireland and was represented by the Combridges Gallery in Dublin, Ireland. She returned to the U.S. to work as a designer and illustrator for a small design firm in Schaumburg. She then decided to leave the commercial art world for her love of fine art and embarked on opening a business specializing in house portraits. For the past 5 years, she has been commissioned by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation to do portraits of the houses for the annual Wright Plus Tour. She has showcased her work in many venues including: Chicago Artists? Coalition, Oak Park Area Arts Council, Oak Park Art League, Deer Path Art League, North Shore Art League, Illinois Artisans Guild, Barrington Area Arts Council, Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, Oak Park Convention & Visitors Bureau, Open Door Gallery, and Out of The Box Gallery. ?I love to do landscapes in color because I feel some exuberance in nature and I can express that with a color medium. My house portraits for the Frank Lloyd Wright Plus Tour, I have always done in pen and ink as it is such an exacting medium and I can do justice to the amazing details in these homes.? ? Carol Richardson-O?Brien Note: A FREE watercolor demonstration by the artist will be held on Monday, May 11th from 7-9pm.
