SUMMARY:Countryside Association Opportunity 5K: Walk\, Run & Roll
DESCRIPTION:Countryside Association for People with Disabilities will hold its 10th annual Opportunity 5K: Walk\, Run and Roll on Sunday\, June 7 at beautiful Independence Grove on 16400 Buckley Rd. in Libertyville. The event is Countryside?s largest fundraiser each year\, attracting close to 400 participants in 2014. New to this year?s event will be a timed run for those seeking competition and a personal challenge. The traditional untimed walk and run will still be available along with shorter routes and wheelchair-accessible paths for those rolling their way through the 5K. The fun continues after the 5K with a free picnic lunch\, raffles and a live broadcast by WXLC. Each participant will also receive a free event T-shirt. Events such as the Opportunity 5K are more important than ever for agencies like Countryside that face dwindling state support and threats of more state funding cuts in the future. Countryside Association serves more than 750 adults with developmental disabilities at its facilities in Palatine and Waukegan. Countryside offers programs for employment\, employment training\, access to public benefits\, respite assistance for caregivers\, assistance transitioning from high school and skills development programs for senior citizens with disabilities.
