WSRep LAB Series presents Miss Expanding Universe
Miss Expanding Universe by Conor McShane Presented by WSRep LAB Series FREE Admission A comedic family drama. Seventeen-year-old Amber runs away to Chicago with no job, no money, and no plans for what she's going to do next. She's shown up at the apartment of her uncle David, a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic stuck in an unfulfilling job, upending his solitary existence. Over the next few days, Amber and David engage in a battle of wills, as David tries to get Amber to take charge of her future, and open up about why she really ran away from home. Along the way, these two self-defined misfits forge a deeper, unexpected connection. Conor McShane is a Michigan-born playwright who has called Chicago home for the past three years. After graduating from Western Michigan University, his work received numerous productions in his home state, including the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region III, where his play “Umbrella Story” was a winner in the one-act category. Since moving to Chicago, his short plays have been produced by Dandelion Theatre (“The Coat Check,” “The Hot Dog Stand”), Thorpedo Productions (“Love in 90 Minutes”), and the 12 Ways to Play One-Act Festival at the Public House Theatre. His full-length play, “The Letter G,” was produced as a staged reading by Coffee & Whiskey Productions in March of 2017. He lives with his partner in life and art, Leslie Hull, and their moody cat, Cheena.
